A 'nickel' is one name for a 5 cent coin in the USA.
This name came because the 5 cent coin was minted using the metal called 'nickel'.
A 'Nickel Machine' is a gameworld which slowly but regularly puts a stream of nickels into your pocket.
The strategy comes from the carnival game called 'Ring Toss'.
In Ring Toss, you pay the Game Master $1.25 and he hands you 5 wooden rings.
Each ring is just wide enough to fit over the top of a coke bottle.
Most people try to toss their rings onto the far bottles where tossing one ring onto a bottle wins you $100. With 5 rings, you could conceivably win $500 !!!
The chances of 'winning big' seems so attractive, but it is nearly impossible to toss a ring onto a bottle so far away.
Many people use this high risk strategy, and many people end up being losers.
The Game Master counts on people's greed and their badly calibrated Compass of Reality.
However, in this Ring Toss game, it is easy to drop the rings on the bottles closest to you, where for each ring you get on a bottle, the Ring Master gives you 30 cents, only one nickel more than you paid him to use the ring. By putting 5 rings on 5 bottles, you win 25 cents.
For many people, this seems boring and pointless... only 5 cents per win.
But... the 5 cents arrives relentlessly, almost without effort, and supplies you with a dependable income stream... a 'Nickel Machine'!
If you but together 2 or 3 little Nickel Machines in your life, then cash can regularly flow through your pockets as it goes through its Money Loops. It does not cost the money anything to flow through your pocket on its journey round and round. It can flow through as many pockets as are in a Money Loop.
